Single-Ply Membranes

Single-ply roofing is an excellent choice for low-slope and new construction. We offer TPO, a membrane composed of high grade TPO synthetic sheet membrane. Also PVC, a membrane composed of high grade PVC sheet membrane modified with DuPont Elvaloy. These products are robust and have fewer seams than asphaltic rolled roofing systems. Installation will also not require the use of torches or hot asphalt. Both systems also carry at least 20 years of warranty (PVC 25)!

Description and Benefits

The versatility of single-ply allows us to mechanically install or fully adhere the membrane.  If you wish to add insulation to your metal roof, we offer a solution using flute filler insulation for the space between the panel ribs. Then after an overlay of insulation board, our single-ply system is performed on top.

Once  insulation is installed, 3' and 6' rolls of material are laid out then drawn tight without folds or wrinkles. Whether mechanically installed or adhered, seams are then heat welded together. Two runs of 3 foot wide membrane will be installed around the edges to establish a perimeter. This is done to fight wind uplift as the 3 foot rolls require more fasteners. The planning and execution of these systems is vital. The overlapping must be done in a way so that you are not creating seams that will be compromised by the water drainage. Once the roof area has been covered, T-patches will be installed on all cross sections and pipe boots around all protrusions.

Both polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) offer similar benefits. Both system methods allow for the material to expand and contract with the building. They are also great against chemicals, grease, and oil. Single-ply's serve as the optimal solution for restaurants and manufacturing facilities with chemical exhaust.  Other shared benefits include superb UV resistance, high reflectivity, and easy repairs/maintenance. TPO is a more cost effective choice but does not have a fire rating like PVC does. TPO may require that DensDeck be installed to provide adequate fire resistance.

Specification Data Sheets

Below are the data sheets pertaining to the single-ply systems we use. In these documents you can find information on the properties of each material, mil thickness, strength, and product limitations.
