What Coatings are right for my roof?
Roof coatings are essential in extending the life of your roof, improving energy efficiency, and protecting it from the elements. There are advantages and limitations to be considered when choosing the right coating. Each roof has it's own unique characteristics. That among other factors like budget and performance should be considered when making an informed decision.
In any case, proper application and surface prep should be priority. Investing in a high quality coating system can save you significant time, money, and hassle for years to come. Below you'll see some benefits and limitations to each coating chemistry.

Aluminum Roof Coatings
Aluminum roof coatings are a popular DIY choice. These coatings have low initial cost, offer UV protection, and can have warranties ranging from 1-7 years. Limitations include flaking, frequent re-coating, and adhesion issues. It's important to note that these coatings do not bond well with water based coatings. This will be a problem if you decide to apply longer lasting acrylic products in the future. Aluminum coatings by themselves are not a waterproof solution.
How do our coatings systems compare?
Our coatings systems will always seek to mitigate any risk factors. Before anything is applied a thorough review will be conducted and areas with ponding water or bridged membrane will be addressed. We value the preparation process and what it takes to create a long lasting roof system!

Our acrylic system will begin with Primer suited to the scope of the project. These acrylic coatings serve to provide optimal adhesion and also inhibit rust on metal roofs. We then treat seams and protrusions with Benchmark Base Coat imbedded with polyester fabric. Benchmark is an elastomeric, monolithic roof coating. This heavy duty coating is the waterproofing component of our acrylic coatings system . Its formulation allows it to expand and contract with the roof, keeping seams and other key areas safe from cracking. Applying Puma XL topcoat is the final step. Puma is a polyurethane modified acrylic coating. It carries a Class "A" fire rating and Class "4" hail rating. It's bright white finish adds aesthetic and energy efficiency to your building!

Our urethane system is built with an initial application of synthetic rubber primer. Then, polyurethane Base Coat and Topcoat. The base coat serves as the waterproofing component and does not require imbedded fabric. Urethanes are our choice when dealing with repairs or systems that are subject to heavy traffic or water flow. A recent project involving a leak along the roof's drain path was sealed using urethane coatings. This solution has performed very well! These coatings have incredible tensile strength and water resistance.
Specification Data Sheets
Below are the data sheets pertaining to the coatings and materials we use. In these documents you can find information on coverage rate, dry mil thickness, strength, and product limitations.
